Give me a minute

Fishing was Paddy’s first love. A fishing match had been arranged on the middle level and as the bus travelled around picking up the fishermen, we arrived at Norbriggs to pick Paddy up. But Paddy wasn’t there! One of the other anglers said he knew that Paddy was going on the match because he had bought his fishing bait yesterday.

Cliff Hodgetts never liked to leave anyone behind, so it was decided to take the bus up to Paddy’s house to see if there was a problem. On arriving at the house Cliff went and knocked, quite loudly, on Paddy’s door. However, there was no sign of Paddy, even with the constant knocking, so we decided to leave. As Cliff started to walk back to the bus, down the drive, the bedroom curtains opened and Paddy appeared at window. Cliff indicated that he should come down at this Paddy opened his window. “Come on Paddy” Cliff said “you’re late”. Paddy looked very bemused and said “sorry Cliff, I’m not going to work today, I feel awful”

“But it’s not work” Cliff said “we’re going fishing”

“Don’t go yet” yelled Paddy “I’ll be down in a minute”

Now that is a dedicated fisherman!
